How to List Products on Google Shopping

In the digital age, when you're in search of a product online, it's second nature to turn to Google. Your experience probably mirrors mine, where the first thing I expect to see is a selection of Google Shopping Ads. It's hard not to get drawn into these visually appealing listings. However, if nothing quite catches my eye, I proceed to the Google Shopping tab for a more comprehensive exploration. Chances are, if I'm doing it, many of you are too.

As an eCommerce business owner, ensuring your products are featured on the Google Shopping tab is essential. But here's the pivotal question: how can you get your products prominently displayed in this sought-after section of Google's search results?

Getting started is remarkably straightforward. Here's how:

Set Up Your Merchant Centre Account

Google's Merchant Center is your gateway to uploading your product data for free and making it accessible not only on Google Shopping but also on other Google services, including Google Ads. The process begins with having a Google Account (Gmail). If you don't already have one, you can create it at accounts.google.com. Once you're ready, sign in to Merchant Center with your Google Account to embark on this journey.

You'll land on a screen titled "List Your Products for Free on Google." If you're not there, you can access it here. On this page, scroll down and enter your business details. Follow the on-screen instructions diligently, making sure to complete all six (6) of the steps, including uploading your product data.

Wait for the Review to Be Completed (Up to 3 Business Days)

Once you've completed Step 1, your application will be under review. You'll be politely asked to wait for up to three business days while Google assesses your account, scans your product images, and verifies your eligibility for showcasing products in enhanced free listings.

After the three working days have passed, you'll log in to see your product status. It should either be marked 'active' or need revising. If it requires revising, you'll need to re-enter your product details, with your Google Merchant Centre Account offering guidance on what needs improvement. Continue this process until your product status becomes 'active.'

Exploring Shopping Ads

To enhance your product's visibility, drive more traffic to your website, and boost sales through your Shopping Product Listings, it's wise to consider advertising across Google. To learn more about and set up Shopping ads, navigate to the 'Overview' tab in your Google Merchant Center. You'll find a small box at the top of the page labeled 'Let's Get You Set Up,' and inside, there's a button for 'Shopping ads' setup. Clicking this button will take you to a page similar to the one below.

By following these steps, your products can reach the audience that actively explores the 'Google Shopping Tab,' potentially driving increased visibility and sales to your eCommerce business.
